Insulated Hot Tub Cover
Regardless of the kind of hot tub that you have, it is better
that you prefer an insulated hot tub cover over other types,
especially the ordinary ones that offer really nothing more than
mere coverture. This is largely because an insulated hot tub
cover can help the tub heater work more efficiently by aiding it
in retaining more heat at a relatively longer period.
Heat coming from a hot tub usually escapes at the top portion.
The tub heater, on the other hand, is usually placed on the
floor. The position, therefore, is not really suited to
retaining too much heat. Yet, by placing an insulated hot tub
cover atop, heat is retained inside a little longer, assuming of
course that the tub heater is functioning.
Majority of insulated hot tub covers are made of Expanded
Polystyrene, which is the basic heat-insulating compound. Most
tub covers have this, though the thickness varies, and this is
where the effectiveness of the spa cover will be measured. While
the EPS thickness is dependent on the appraisal of the insulated
hot tub cover, this is not as easy as it may seem. Actually, it
can be a bit complicated. It is safe to say though that when the
value is higher, it usually denotes a high EPS-thickness
density.
A portable hot tub often comes with a coverture. However, this
is often an insulated hot tub cover that is not really known to
be well-insulated. So when one is choosing what type of hot tub
to buy, it is always better to go for the larger ones since one
can purchase a cover that can be insulated. Large hot tubs
though have their own set of disadvantages. Nevertheless, it is
important to remember that an insulated hot tub cover can
contribute a lot in lowering one's monthly electric bill. This
is because, with an insulated hot tub cover in place, the tub
heater need not really work double time to retain heat.
Consequently, this will not result to higher electricity rates.
